FUNFAB · CREATOR SETUP

Your Live. Your chat.
A game everyone can join.

Connect your Substack studio to your game in desktop Chrome. Only you install the connector. Your viewers keep playing in chat.

Early access: test a viewer’s input before every show. Substack controls who can chat; only those viewers can participate. Hot Seat uses private player pages instead.

Install the connector

Checking the release…

Download connector

Version · desktop Chrome 116 or newer · Privacy and permissions

  1. Download the ZIP and unzip it. Move the extracted folder to a permanent location, such as Documents/FunFab. Keep that folder after installing.
  2. Open chrome://extensions in the same Chrome profile you use for Substack.
  3. Turn on Developer mode in the top-right corner, then click Load unpacked near the top-left.
  4. Select the extracted folder containing manifest.json. Choose the folder, not the ZIP. You should see FunFab Substack Connector with its switch on.

This manual installation does not update automatically. To update, replace the files in the same folder, click the connector’s reload icon on the Extensions page, and refresh your game panel. Updates end an active connection: reconnect and test before playing.

2

Return to your game

Keep this tab if you need the instructions. Switch back to the game tab you came from and refresh it. Its Substack panel should say Connector installed with a version number. Your private room link stays in that tab.

Open your actual Substack Live studio in the same Chrome profile. In the game, click Connect current Live, choose the Live, then return to the game.

Test, then play

Open the public board using your game’s instructions. Ask a viewer to type the test input shown in the private panel. When capture, board connection and the game’s test receipt are ready, click Enable play.

Test inputs never score. Use the game’s Start, Deal or GO control to begin. Viewers install nothing.
